Indiana State Flag
In 1916, Paul Hadley of Mooresville won the contest to design a new State flag. The legislature adopted his design as the State banner on May 31, 1917. The outer circle of thirteen stars is for the original members of the Union. The inner six stars are for the subsequent States up to and including Indiana which is represented by the largest star at the top. The torch symbolizes liberty and enlightenment.
